How do I tan tricky areas like my hands and feet?

We hear you! This can be hard but we promise perfectly blended hands and feet if you follow these steps:

  1. The key is to apply tan to your full body first.
  2. Apply lots of oil-free moisturiser to your hands and feet.
  3. Apply residue tan (from mitt) or a small dot of tan from a glove onto the hands and feet.
  4. The moisturiser will help to blend the tan into the knuckles and creases of the hands and feet for a gorgeous blend.

Customer Questions

How long does UTan last for?

Once applied, UTan and Tone Dark and Medium lotions create an instant, seductive colour that intensifies over the next 3-4 hours. You’ll then feel amazing and get adoring glances for up to a week.

Our Turbo tan creates an instant seductive colour that should be rinsed within 6 hours (Chose a rinse time for desired results) and will be fully developed 24 hours after rinsing. Adoring glances coming your way for up to two weeks!

Our Gradual Tans should be used as and when needed to top up existing fake (or real) tans. These can also be used on their own applied as a regular body moisturiser to achieve a beautiful sun-kissed glow.

How long does UTan take to develop?

If you choose a product with an instant colour guide, you’ll see the difference on your skin as soon as you apply. Your tan will then continue to develop over the next 4-6 hours. You can bathe or shower after this time.

If you opt for a gradual tan, it goes on un-tinted and the colour develops overnight, so you will wake up a light golden colour.

If you opt for our Turbo Tan, you will see the difference on your skin as soon as you apply. You then must rinse this guide colour in line with the results you want to achieve. Your tan will continue to develop for 24 hours after rinsing for an extremely long lasting tan.

Can I use UTan if I am Pregnant?

UTan and Tone lotions can be used during pregnancy. Our formulas only work upon the uppermost layers of the skin and cannot get into the bloodstream from normal application. However, be aware that hormonal changes during pregnancy (especially during the first 3 months) may affect the development of the tan.

During pregnancy the skin can became more sensitive and products previously used may now not be suitable due to this therefore we would always advise a 24 hour patch test before using.

It is not recommended to have a spray tan during this time as it is possible, although unlikely, to inhale some of this air-borne application.

Can I use UTan if I am breastfeeding?

Do not apply to the breast area if breastfeeding, however UTan formulas can be used on the remaining parts of the body

We do recommend you ask your doctor or midwife about this.

Can I use UTan if I have allergies?

We would always advise you to consult your doctor before using UTan if you suffer from allergies; a 24 hour patch test is advised before using any of the UTan range.

Can I use UTan if I have eczema, psoriasis or any other skin complaint?

We would advise that you consult your doctor before using any UTan products.

Can I use UTan if I am allergic to DHA?

UTan and Tone tanning products cannot be used if you are allergic to DHA.

What is DHA?

DHA is the active ingredient used in self-tan products that provides the colour. It refers to dihydroxyacetone and it is a sugar molecule that acts with the amino acids on the surface of the skin. The level of DHA controls the colour and how long it lasts. UTan and Tone has a unique organic tanning complex, a clever blend of DHA’s that provides a deep rich colour intensity as it imparts greater uniformity of colour to help eliminate streaking and promotes more even wear-ability. With the additional benefit that is DHA odour-free and organic.

Does UTan protect me from U.V exposure?

No. There are currently no sun filters in UTan products so it’s imperative that you still use a sun protection product with sufficient levels of SPF when exposing your skin to the sun to be protected at all times.

UTan delivers a colour on the uppermost, outer layers of the skin and offers absolutely no protection from UVA/UVB rays. Whilst you will look amazing with a UTan tan your skin has no natural protection from the sun.

Is UTan tested on Animals?

No, we are 100% against testing anything on our cuddly friends!

Are there any parabens in UTan?

UTan and Tone products are 100% Paraben and Lanolin free!
